No Smoking

Well it's been two days without cigarettes, mostly because I am to lazy to go to the store, but I figure what the hell. I'll give it ANOTHER try. I have done this many many many times and gone as long as 4 or 5 months without one, but I always seem to start up again.
This is why I always start back.....(I have a gym membership now so maybe this will be my final try)

Here's what happens without cigarettes...I suddenly become SUPER hungry...Today I have eaten:

Small bag of Chips (for breakfast)
Small box of Cracker Jacks (for a pre-lunch snack)
2 Corn Dogs and Most of a large Tater Tot from Sonic (lunch)
4 White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies (just because)
4 Cups of Coffee with Cream
and it's only 4:15

I think I can literally feel my a&@ spreading as I type. I am going to the gym after work. It is senseless to try and diet, stop smoking and exercise all at once. I do want to live a long healthy emphysema free life, but I would really like to do it and not weigh 350 pounds. The warning on the cig box should also include: Stopping Smoking causes excessive weight gain.

Enough of my ramblings, I have to go to the gym. I think if I do 2 hours of cardio then maybe I can eat dinner without feeling guilty! LOL!

Do you remember?

Do you remember waaaay back in preschool going to the zoo on a class field trip?? We all ended up in the little river. It never failed, someone "accidentally" fell in and then total mayhem! Everyone rode home in wet clothes and to top it off... a serious case of the giggles, an epidemic really, broke out! I will always remember that trip. I may not remember all the details, but I remember the fun we had.
Well apparently the temptation of the little river is still as strong as ever. Taylor didn't fall in, but it was absolutely necessary to get into the river that runs through entrace of the zoo and if I had to guess it's probably almost as clean as the Mississippi, but you're only young once.LOL!

Scrapbooker in training

Three Day Weekend

I love long weekends. Saturday morning we headed off to the soccer field for a 9:30 game. We were a little late which seemed to irk the coach a little but we had to stop for breakfast because really, who wants to run on an empty stomach :-) We lost by one point but the kids seemed to have fun.

We spent most of the rest of the day at the Memphis Zoo. Taylor and I love the zoo. I think we both enjoy the Tropical Bird House the best. The birds are so stinking cute and their coloring is amazing. They are so used the people coming through that they aren't scared at all. A few years ago, a little parakeet landed on Pop-pops head. It was the funniest thing!
Ward had not been to the zoo since the big cats were caged in the Cathouse. He doesn't get out near enough!LOL!

We attempted to go to Tom Lee Park to The Sunset Symphony, but the rained kept us away. We enjoyed some Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and a movie instead. Night at the Museum, Battle of the Smithsonian was cute, but if you haven't seen the first one, rent it.

Sunday Taylor, Debbie and I went to Archiver's for a Mother/ Daughter crop. Taylor is turning into quite the little scrapbooker. I am afraid that between her scrapbooking habit and mine, I am going to need a second job :-)

Monday we decided to relax. Ahhhhh! We don't do that nearly enough, but it sure is nice. Maybe I'll try to do it more often. Not this week.. Golf Tournament Thursday and Relay for Life Friday. Speaking of Relay for Life, stop by Friday. It should be fun and all the money raised goes right back into the mid-south which directly affects Tipton County.

Relay for Life! I NEED Your Help

Relay for Life in Tipton County is in two weeks! The 29th of this month, Relay will be held at BHS from 6:00 pm until 6:00 am and I proud to say that I will be there for the duration. This year I have the privilage of Chairing the Ceremonies Committee and although I am not on a team (but hope to gather up some willing participants for next year) I am trying to raise money as an individual on line. You can click on the link below and make an online donation to Tipton County Relay for Life. The money raised directly benefits Tipton County. In fact, June 5th Baptist Hospital is holding a "Look Good, Feel Better" Program for women currently undergoing Chemo. This will be a Make Over for the the SPIRIT and SOUL for all the ladies attending and they will leave with makeup and goodies. The make up is ALL high dollar name brand stuff!! Sometimes, looking good makes us feel better and this is FREE! To find out more about "Look Good Feel Better" Call Cyndi Roberts at 476-2621 or to register (must register to attend) call Malinda McDainel at 901-725-8625!

Please help me reach my goal of $1000.00 by the 29th! All we need is 50 people with $20.00 to help wipe out cancer in Tipton County!

Top Ten 6th Grader

I am so proud of Taylor! She placed 7th out of the whole 6th grade at CMS today during the awards ceremony. She is so smart. She has a 97.2 average and she just breezes through most all of her subjects. Keep it up Taylor! Look out Ivy League, here's she comes! (hopefully with a big fat scholarship. LOL!)

Thank You! Thank You!

Calling all Graduates!! Don't forget to show your gratitude for those graduation gifts. Thank you cards available in school colors at Card Art in Jezabel's. Will have some gift card holders and Congrats cards this week! Thank you card set start at $15.00.

Cute new stuff at Jezabel's. The giant clothespins are great (and small) for displaying pictures on your desk at work. Great Birthday Books, Recipe Books and Cards for most occasions. Taking orders for Custom Graduation Thank You Cards and Baby Shower and Party Invitations. I should have some examples available pretty soon.

Oh and I guess I need to explain what to do with a Birthday Book ! I forget to send out cards so I write down the birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions on the page of the appropriate month and slide the cards into the pockets. Each month I open my book up to that corresponding page and mail out my cards! Easy as Pie. An alternative use for the book, if you are guilty of keeping every single card you ever received, is storage. LOL! Great for babies. I kept all of Taylor's Cards and now I have them in a little pink baby Birthday Book. I will pass it along to her when she is older.

Also, there will be a sign up sheet for people interested in learning how to scrapbook. Classes will be $15.00 to $20.00 and you will receive a 2 page kit and access to the tools you will need to complete the kits.

Sweetie Pie

Sometimes your kids do something really thoughtful and you just have to tell everyone. So here it goes.....My sweet little Taylor Bug sent me flowers for Mother's Day!

Rain

The rain is still coming down. Had to pass on the Beale Street Music Fest. Kind of sad, I spent like $35.00 on a ticket but it rains every year so I guess I had a lapse in judgement. Maybe next year it won't rain. Unlikely, but maybe. Makes you wonder why people are willing to stand in the rain and be miserable. Does this mean I am finally getting older? Maybe.....

The Flute

Taylor had a concert at DSCC Friday and boy the 6th grade band has come a long way since their Christmas concert last year. They really have gotten pretty good. They played three songs and I am guessing that they enjoyed playing "Louie Louie" the most. They were all smiles as they started playing. They all stood up and Doc, their teacher, played the cowbell. (that instrument is more my speed) Of course one of the older kids screamed out "We need more cowbell", which is the BEST SNL skit to date. Chris Farley in a belly shirt working his cowbell with Christopher Walkin directing anyway.......
Her father and I both forgot to bring cameras but she did an excellent job. I am such a proud momma. Another thing that occurred to me as I was watching her from the audience is how beautiful she is. Of course I am little biased but my goodness, she is starting to lose her little girl cuteness and turn into a lovely young woman.

The Big Shot

I got an early birthday present today!! Ward and I went to Archivers to exchange some things I bought yesterday and as he was wandering around the store in sheer and utter amazement, I showed him the new Sizzix Big Shot die cutting machine. He surprised me, and the sales clerk, when he picked up the box and said "I'll take it, somebody has a birthday coming up."
He really is a great boyfriend. I can honestly say I have never met anyone like him. He is considerate, funny and right now he is reading over my shoulder as I type so I am going to stop saying nice things about him. LOL!
Since I have started making cards and scrapbooks for my little corner inside Jezabel's I have tried to learn new techniques and stockpile supplies and my new toy will make things much easier.
He let me open it as soon as we got back and it is so cool! I am addicted to scrapbooing, but he loves me anyway. I should be able to crank out lots of cool stuff pretty quickly.

On a totally different subject, it's raining. I have a ticket for the Beale Street Music fest and I really want to see James Taylor and Bonnie Raitt but I really really don't want to stand in the rain with mud up to my knee caps. Drunks, music and mud make for an interesting evening.

Can you believe that his Wardness is still reading over my shoulder?? With binoculars no less. I guess that's why we are so compatible. Neither one of us have any sense. He's a gun toting, Rush Limbaugh lovin, uber conservative, but I have decided to overlook those things. We all have our faults.... Ha! ha!

Making things to share with friends, to mark a special occasion, or just becasue, is my way of giving a little bit of myself to those I love.
